Great Global Cleanup

Join volunteers all over the world in a large-scale trash cleanup! Celebrate Earth Day by spring cleaning Westminster and the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. The City provides supplies and disposal of trash bags.

To thank participants, a volunteer celebration BBQ will be held at CIty Park Rec Center.All ages welcome!

Spring Pottery Sale
May 4 | 10a.m. - 4p.m. | City Park Recreation Center

Shop for unique, hand-crafted pottery created by students and staff at the City Park Pottery Studio. Bring your shopping bag and be sure to stop by! Admission is a non-perishable food donation for the Westminster Food Bank. We'll see you there!

Armed Forced Day Ceremony
May 18 | 10-11 a.m. | Armed Forces Tribute Garden

Celebrate Armed Forces Day and honor those who serve our nation. The ceremony includes patriotic music, flag presentation, 21-gun salute, keynote speaker, reading of the names of all new brick honorees, and unveiling the new Marine statue.

Westminster’s Armed Forces Tribute Garden honors those who serve in the Armed Services. Personalized, engraved bricks are available to all service men and women. Visit www.tributegarden.org.

 

 


Partner Event: Orchard Farmers Market

The vibrant Sunday farmers market will take place at the Orchard Town Center in the Macy’s parking lot June-September in 2024.Featuring fresh produce, fruits, roasted chilis, breads, baked goods, drinks, handmade specialty foods and more!

History Tour: Prehistoric Footsteps
June 8 | 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m. | Westminster History Center, 7200 Lowell Blvd

Beginning with the dinosaurs, we will learn about Westminster’s early development.  We’ll learn about how Westminster was part of the Great Inland Sea and explore historic landmarks and areas that have physically shaped Westminster.  The presentation will include information about the Cherokee/Overland Trail and its influence on the development of Westminster.

History Tour: Founding Families

Explore the early history of the founding families of Westminster including the Bowles, the DeSpains, the Sempers, and the Churches. We’ll walk the areas of the Old Wagon Road, Semper Farm, Mandalay School, Church Ranch Barn, and the Bowles House.

History Tour: Historic Streets and Parks
August 10 | 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m. | Westminster History Center, 7200 Lowell Blvd

Explore the vibrant neighborhood of Historic Westminster including Fred Valente Humanitarian Park and the Vicky Bunsen Sculpture Garden.  We will visit landmarks in this vibrant neighborhood ncluding the Westminster Grange, Rodeo Market building, the Penguin Building, and other historic sites in this area.  We will also get the inside scoop on why there are two names for the streets in this area.

September 21 | 10 a.m.-1:00 p.m. | Westminster History Center, 7200 Lowell Blvd

Learn how different cultures have shaped Westminster through the built environment and regional connections.  We will tour the Hmong Community Garden, Torii Square Park, Fireman’s Park, the Westminster Presbyterian Church, other local places of worship, and local landmarks in this area.
