Colorful Colorado Cinema: The Sheriff and National Western Stock Show
Saturday, November 17, 2018
11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
View a free series of short films from “Colorado Experience,” a weekly history series produced by Rocky Mountain PBS.

The Sheriff
Rankin Scott Kelly fled New England in anticipation of prosecution for murder. This early brush with crime served as a catalyst for Kelly's dedication to the law, becoming El Paso County's first sheriff. Follow Kelly through the unmapped Colorado Territory as he tracks outlaws such as Big Tooth Jim and the Espinosa Brothers.

National Western Stock Show
On a warm day in an otherwise blustery and cold January 1906, the first "Western Live Stock Show" opened in Denver under a circus tent. The event welcomed thousands of stockmen from all across the American West to show-off their animals and trade stock. Discover how the Stock Show has grown into a state treasure and symbol of Colorado's deep agricultural roots.

Westminster Public Library staff facilitates a discussion after the films to enrich your watching experience. Feel free to bring a brown bag lunch. Questions? Call 303-658-2603.
