Anita Seitz was appointed to City Council in December 2013, and after serving 2 years, was elected in 2015. She was named Mayor Pro Tem in December 2018. She was sworn in as Mayor in May of 2021.

Anita has an undergraduate degree in Earth Science from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s in Business Administration from Regis University (December 2013). She is a graduate of the Land Use Leadership Alliance training program.  Anita was awarded a Certificate of Completion from the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government as a Gates family fellow (June 2016).  

She is the City Council liaison to the city’s Environmental Advisory Board, Parks Recreation Libraries and Open Space Board, and the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation, and Colorado Municipal League’s policy committee. She is the past liaison to the Planning Commission and past alternate for the Denver Regional Council of Governments. 

Anita is the President of Colorado Communities for Climate Action. She was an initial signer of the Compact of Colorado communities and currently serves on the steering committee. Anita also serves on the Board for the Ralston House, a nonprofit child advocacy center.  

Anita work towards having the values of diversity, inclusivity, sustainability, equity, economic resilience and citizen engagement embedded in the strategic and comprehensive plan for Westminster.  

Prior to her position on City Council, she was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a local employee benefits firm.
