1000 Books Before Kindergarten owl1000 Books Before Kindergarten

Congratulations! You are about to embark on a fantastic, lifelong journey with your child. Together you will read 1,000 books before kindergarten. By committing to this journey, you will help your child gain pre-literacy skills that will prepare him/her for reading throughout their life. Read more about this national program.

How the program works:

You can visit College Hill (303-658-2606) or Irving Street (303-658-2306) to register in person and pick up your Welcome packet and first log, or you can download everything you need here. There's even also a mobile app for iPhone and Android where you can keep track of all your books (instructions here.) Follow these simple steps to participate in the program:

  1. Register your child online
  2. Download the Welcome packet and the first reading log (Books 1-100). After you've read 100 books, bring your completed log to Irving Street or College Hill to receive your Certificate of Achievement and sticker.
  3. Complete the rest of your reading logs and bring them to the library to be added to our database of participants and receive additional stickers for your certificate:
  4. Receive an invitation to a special party to mark the halfway point in your journey.
  5. Receive a free keepsake book in honor of your achievement.
