Westminster Public Library is looking for teen volunteers (ages 12-18) to assist with the 2022 Summer Reading Program, "Oceans of Possibilities." The program runs from Sunday, June 4 - Saturday, July 31.

Tasks volunteers will be expected to help with include:

  • Registering kids, teens, and adults for the Summer Reading Program
  • Describing the Summer Reading Program to kids, teens, and adults
  • Handing out prizes and bookmark logs to kids, teens, and adults
  • Tracking participants' completed levels in summer reading software
  • Directing participants to library staff for assistance
  • Helping with set up, clean up, and at special programs
  • Assisting library staff with program and craft prep
  • Straightening up and cleaning toys in the children's library, as well as cleaning and collating books.

Shifts begin in mid-June and consist of one or two hour blocks. Sign up for shifts that fit your schedule, and as many shifts as you'd like. Volunteer are needed for both our temporary College Hill-Rotunda location and Irving Street.

If this sounds fun, it's the perfect job for you! In order to participate, start by completing our Teen Volunteer application on the city website. Someone will contact you after your application is submitted to schedule an interview. If you are selected, you will be scheduled for a summer reading volunteer training.
