Westminster City Council recently adopted new water rates effective January 1, 2023, as part of the City’s annual budgeting process. This new rate was developed through extensive financial modeling and follows historic, mid-year water rate decreases that the City Council approved in 2022. The 2023 water rate preserves the City’s vision for offering high-quality water at an affordable rate and saves the average resident $43.15 annually when compared to 2021.
The modest 4% increase will help offset the escalating costs of materials to treat and clean the community’s drinking water and ensures the City is able to maintain and improve Westminster’s water infrastructure. The new rate structure also incorporates funding scenarios for a rehabilitated or replacement drinking water treatment facility in the future.
