Westminster City Council Votes to Reduce Water Rates for Residential Ratepayers

Westminster residents should see savings on their water bills this summer, as City Council voted to reduce water rates and increase the consumption limits of the city’s three-tier water rate structure for residential customers. The average resident will save $86 annually.

City Council finalized the new rate structure on March 14. The new rate structure will be effective June 1, 2022, providing immediate financial relief ahead of the irrigation season when residents typically receive their highest water bills.

This new rate structure was developed through extensive financial modeling and will continue to provide $24 million annually to the utility’s capital improvement program to maintain and improve Westminster’s water infrastructure. The new rate structure also includes $150 million to invest in a rehabilitated or replacement drinking water treatment facility in the future.
