Construction work now complete on Westminster Blvd. between 98th and 104th Ave.

Update: This construction work is complete and Westminster Boulevard is now open to through traffic.

Beginning on Monday, April 26, a portion of Westminster Boulevard will be closed for approximately one month from north of 98th Avenue to 104th Avenue for construction work, including curb and gutter work and improvements to drainage.

Large LED messaging boards have already been placed in specific locations to provide residents and commuters notice of the upcoming closure and related information. Northbound traffic will be redirected to 98th Avenue toward Sheridan Boulevard and southbound traffic redirected to Sheridan Boulevard. Business access will be allowed from the north.

Project Description: Installation of type R inlet, curb and gutter, asphalt, and three storm manholes redirecting the existing drainage of Westminster Boulevard north of the Big Dry Creek bridge into the storm sewer system. The project also involves private property to meet the proposed infrastructure and improve the drainage situation.

Schedule: Construction is anticipated to begin April 26, 2021, and will last approximately one month.

Background: The Westminster Boulevard extension from Westcliff Parkway to the south end of the Butterfly Pavilion was constructed in 2000. Drainage from this extension was allowed to flow onto private property which caused erosion the owner believed would hinder his ability to develop. The owner requested the City redirect the flow away from his property which is the purpose of this project.

Road closure information: Westminster Boulevard will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. Northbound traffic will be redirected to 98th Avenue toward Sheridan and southbound traffic redirected to Sheridan Boulevard. Business access will be allowed from the north. If necessary, construction traffic for the Big Dry Creek Interceptor (BDCI) project will also be allowed from the north end only.
