So, you want to run for City Council?

This November, Westminster residents will vote for three at-large City Councillors.

If you are interested in running for office, the City Clerk will be hosting a Candidate Information Session on Wednesday, May 29, at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 4800 W. 92nd Ave.

The Candidate Information Session is an informal event for potential City Council candidates who are interested in running for office in the 2019 November election cycle.

Topics covered will include everything from the Council/Manager government structure to legal requirements for running for office in the City of Westminster. There will also be lots of important information on key election dates, campaign finance requirements and candidate responsibilities and duties.

A short “In Real Life” session will be led by current City Council members (not on the upcoming ballot) to tell potential candidates what it’s really like to run for office and get elected, and what the long-term time commitment they make with weekly meetings, study sessions and community events really entails.

Finally, there will be an opportunity for an open Q&A with all members of the City Council and staff to close out the session.

If you’re thinking about throwing your hat in the ring this fall, come get all the information you’ll need to be a well-informed candidate at the Candidate Information Session.
