Summer Lunch Program provides free grab-and-go lunches to kids and teens

Summer Lunch Program provides free grab-and-go lunches to kids and teens

The City of Westminster Parks, Recreation and Libraries Department, in partnership with Westminster Public Schools, will offer its popular Free Summer Lunch Program at four city facilities:

  • City Park Recreation Center (10455 Sheridan Blvd.)
  • Westminster Center Park (4801 W. 92nd Ave.)
  • Countryside Pool (10470 Oak St.)
  • Swim & Fitness Center (3290 W. 76th Ave.)

With the recreation facilities currently closed due to COVID-19 Safer-at-Home orders, all lunch sites will be a grab-and-go drive through service located at designated parking lots at each of the four locations.

The program provides free, USDA-approved lunches to children and youth ages 18 and under from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday-Friday between May 26 and Aug. 7.

In addition to providing free lunches, Westminster Public Schools wants to make more food available to the community during the summer, and will also distribute food boxes at the summer lunch sites when available.

Staff will continue to monitor any updates to public health orders and adjust the program as needed to stay compliant.
