Westminster City Council Confirms Abby Fitch as New City Clerk

On Tuesday, December 21, the Westminster City Council confirmed  Abby Fitch as the City’s next City Clerk. Abby was selected for the position after a nationwide search. She brings a solid background and many years in public service to her new position. Most recently, she has served as the City’s senior Deputy City Clerk since 2019 and as Interim City Clerk since October. When the pandemic began, Abby led the effort to move City Council meetings to virtual formats and helped develop new methods for constituent engagement and comment during the meetings. Earlier this year, she helped create Westminster’s first Civic Academy for residents, received her Certified Municipal Clerk designation, and coordinated the summer and fall elections for the City. She is looking forward to implementing a new agenda software for Westminster in the future.

Prior to joining Westminster, Abby worked for the City of Aurora as a senior aide to the Mayor and Council where she served as a resource for Aurora’s elected officials, conducted policy analysis, oversaw program public relations and outreach activities, and evaluated program effectiveness. In that role, she created Aurora’s Civic Academy, a civic engagement program, and had extensive constituent interaction. Abby has also assisted with coordinated elections in Arapahoe, Douglas, Adams, and Jefferson County and served as a Program Administrator for the University of Colorado-Denver.

An Idaho native, Abby received her Bachelors of Science in International Economics from Texas Tech University and has completed graduate work in Public Administration at both Texas Tech and CU-Denver. She has resided in Westminster for 20 years and enjoys riding her bicycle and E-bike around town. She is thrilled to assume the position of City Clerk and to continue working with the team she describes as “the best coworkers anyone could ask for.”
