The 92nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard intersection widening/reconstruction project will provide a much needed betterment to the highly-utilized intersection.

Project includes:

  • double left-turns in all directions
  • a new traffic signal
  • removing and replacing an old water line
  • drainage improvements
  • patterned concrete medians
  • ADA ramps

These improvements will not only provide better traffic movement for the intersection, it will also beatify the area by undergrounding the overhead electric lines and constructing an aesthetically pleasing median.

Timeline:

The project construction was substantially complete in December 2018. However, some items, including asphalt, will need to be corrected. The project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2019.

Current Work:

The project will be performing asphalt paving operations on northbound and southbound Federal Boulevard on Saturday, July 13 and Sunday, July 14. Final pavement striping is schedule to be performed on Wednesday, July 17. While traffic control will be installed, it is advised to seek alternative routes during this time.

This work is being done to correct asphalt paving that did not meet project standards.

Funding:

These improvements are a great example of regional collaboration as Westminster joined the City of Federal Heights as a funding partner for the $6.2 million project. The City of Federal Heights applied for and was awarded a grant to complete this project and has assumed the lead agency for the project. The majority of the project is being funded by FHWA (82.79%) with small contributions from Westminster (8.605%) and Federal Heights (8.605%).
