As early as Monday, April 1, City utility workers will begin their yearly hydrant maintenance program. Over the next six weeks, weather permitting, residents will notice staff flushing water from hydrants. This process typically lasts fifteen minutes per hydrant. This annual flushing helps us maintain high water quality throughout Westminster, while also ensuring all of the City’s 4,852 hydrants are working in case of a fire. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to provide safe and clean water to our community.

Trail Closure- Wadsworth Parkway and Big Dry Creek

PRL Open Space staff has identified that the Big Dry Creek tunnel underpass at Wadsworth Parkway needs to be closed due to standing water in the tunnel.  Currently there is about 3” of standing water in the tunnel making it unsafe for trail users along with the potential for icy conditions.  A pump that is designed to remove water from the tunnel has failed and will need to be repaired.  Signage has been posted on both sides of the tunnel notifying the public of the closure. Trail users can detour around the tunnel by going north to 100 Ave. or south to Independence Street. We will notify the public once the repairs have been made and the tunnel has been reopened.
