High Service Pump Station Repair and Replacement Project

The City of Westminster is investing $15 million to rehabilitate the High Service Pump Station, the facility responsible for delivering 80% of the water used in the city.

Project Summary

The project includes adding a surge tank to improve pump station performance, replacing aging electrical equipment to improve pump station efficiency and adding additional backup generator capacity to increase reliability in the event of a power outage. This work is necessary to replace aging infrastructure that has reached the end of its useful life span.

Project Impacts

The city is taking special precautions to minimize disruption and inconvenience caused by this project.

No impact to water service is expected throughout the duration of the project. Most construction activity will take place Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with some night and weekend work taking place as needed.

Temporary lane closures may be required at times for construction activities and deliveries to the site located near 91st Avenue and Pierce Street.

Project Timeline

The project is underway and is expected to be complete by the end of 2021. The work includes complex operations that require a long-term construction period and mobilization of specialized construction equipment.
