Free shower and laundry services return to Irving Street Library

Free shower and laundry services return to Irving Street Library

Irving Street Library, located at 7392 Irving St., in partnership with Adams County and Bayaud Enterprises, is providing a shower truck and laundry truck to community members Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting.

“We are happy to provide these services to our community members,” said Library Services Manager J.R. Clanton. “Everyone deserves the dignity of having a shower and clean clothes.”

The shower truck provides two fully functioning shower bays built into a mobile trailer and supplied with resources needed for a warm and satisfying shower.

The laundry truck has six washers and dryers, which can clean up to 30 loads. Community members can drop off up to two 10-pound bags of dirty clothes and bedding. Washing and drying a load takes about two hours.

Both services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The shower and laundry trucks started last year by Library Associate Patty Gendill and have continued to be a valuable service for the community.

Bayaud Enterprises is also accepting new participants on site for the Day Works Program, an employment program for people experiencing homelessness. This program offers daily paid work experience, job coaching, meals, housing navigation and referrals for permanent employment.
