Small Business Spotlight: World Juice Bar

Small Business Spotlight: World Juice Bar

World Juice Bar is a Westminster juice bar and boba tea lounge owned by Denise and David Sweet. This family business uses local and global ingredients to make fresh drinks from their retail store and mobile food truck.

What made you want to start a juice bar?

Denise Sweet: It all started 19 years ago in our kitchen after visiting festivals and wondering how to start a family food vending business. After making smoothies one morning, we found the perfect product and started our business selling drinks at public and catered events. Our concept quickly became the niche that was missing from the normal festival fare, which kept us in demand for years.

How did you find your way to a retail location?

DS: A chance meeting allowed us to start the next phase of our business in Westminster inside the H Mart International Market, at 92nd and Sheridan. The typical restaurant takes months to open, but our transition was quick. We often laugh about our journey comparing it to a reality show! From the seasonality of selling smoothies in Colorado, to weather issues, we have seen it all.

What are the unique ways your business serves the community?

DS: The World Juice Bar appreciates culture, so we brought back Asian-inspired boba tea drinks to our cultural menu. We sold them years ago when it was not popular and now, we are known as the smoothie shop that sells bobas – we have over 50 items on our menu! We also serve the community through mobile delivery and catering, but our proudest moment is when we hire youth and participate in workforce development programs.

What are the popular drinks right now?

DS: Our new drink, Brown Sugar Boba Tea is quickly gaining popularity, and our Matcha Green Tea is always a fan favorite. We also have an assortment of bottled cold pressed juices for a super healthy alternative.
