Free Prescription Discount Card

Westminster residents are now eligible for discounts on prescription drugs under a new program offered by the National League of Cities. The discount cards offer average savings of 20 percent off the retail price of commonly prescribed drugs to residents who are without health insurance, a traditional benefits plan or have prescriptions that are not covered by insurance. The card is FREE to all Westminster residents, regardless of age, income or existing health insurance. The NLC card can be used when purchasing prescription drugs at approximately 100 pharmacies in the Westminster area, as well as at more than 59,000 participating retail pharmacies across the country.

Car Seat Inspections

Westminster firefighters certified as car seat technicians are available to inspect and provide instruction on installation of child safety seats free of charge. Inspections are performed for age and size appropriateness, proper installation and use, and whether seats have been recalled or visibly damaged.

Residential Knox Box Safety Health

The Residential Knox Box Loaner Program is available for older adults or those with special needs who may be unable to answer their door in an emergency situation. The steel lock boxes are loaned to residents for a one time fee and securely contain their house key(s) allowing Fire Department personnel access to unlock the house.

Home Safety Checks

The Westminster Fire Department offers free home safety checks for older adults or those with special needs on a quarterly basis. Firefighters and trained volunteers visit residents to check their home for a variety of hazards. Smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, night lights, extension cords and more are all reviewed to reduce the chances for a fire or home injury. Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch is a national program that encourages neighborhoods to work cooperatively with their police departments to reduce crime and improve the quality of life in neighborhoods. The Westminster Police Department will assist you in developing your Neighborhood Watch program, but its success relies on the commitment of the organizers. Security Surveys

The Westminster Police Department Community Service Division can assist local businesses and residents in a security site analysis of their home or business that is intended to inform the owner of any needed adjustments to make the building more secure. The owner would be given advice on such things like lighting, doors and locks, and landscaping.

Smart 911

Smart 911 allows for individuals to go online and create a Safety Profile for any cell, landline, or VOIP phone in their household. Citizens control their own profiles, which are only available to 911 operators. The information can only be accessed when you call 911. Learn more about the program and register online.  

CodeRED

CodeRED is the notification system the City of Westminster, police and fire, uses to notify residents of emergencies. Currently, any land line phone should be in the system. If you do not have a landline in your business or residence, be sure to register your cell phones to receive the notifications. Neighborhood Meetings

The Westminster Police Department meets with neighborhoods or apartment complexes about crime/police-related concerns. Once the neighborhood/complex contacts WPD with their issue or concerns, WPD can tailor the meeting to the needs that exist.
