Municipal Court

The City of Westminster is taking the appropriate measures to ensure the health and well-being of its employees and citizens. To that end, the Westminster Municipal Court is closed to the public effective Monday, March 16, 2020 until further notice. Cases will still be handled in a fair, just and impartial manner during this time with the same high standards of accountability, integrity and equity. The court will remain in communication with the community. Please continue to check back on the city’s webpage for updated information regarding the status of the court’s closure and handling of cases.

Even though the court will be closed to the public, there will be staff on site at the court available to take your phone calls for questions, to resolve your case or have it continued. Staff will be making attempts to contact individuals to have cases addressed, but ultimately it is your responsibility to contact the court.  You may call the court clerk at (303) 658-2250 Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., or you may email the court clerk.

All Westminster Municipal Court Presiding Orders, including those relating to Covid-19, are available for review upon request at the Municipal Court Clerk's Office.

Municipal Court Closure

Presiding Judge: Tiffany Sorice

Our mission is to administer equitable, fair, and impartial justice in a timely and courteous manner; protect fundamental rights; promote public safety; and facilitate community reparation through SPIRIT.

The Municipal Court handles violations of the Westminster Municipal Code and the Colorado Model Traffic Code for both juveniles and adults.  Cases commence with a Summons, Affidavit in support of a Warrantless Arrest or Application for an Arrest Warrant.  The Summons contains information to include if a mandatory court appearance is required, if the matter can be handled with a signature and payment or if there is an early payment point reduction option.

Information on this site applies only to the Westminster Municipal Court. The Westminster Police Department also writes summons into Adams County Court or Jefferson County Court. If you have been ordered to appear at the Westminster Municipal Court the court's name and address will be listed below the signature box on the front of the summons.

City ordinances, court rules and state statutes govern the court's proceedings. Court employees are not allowed to give legal advice, but are happy to answer procedural questions.
